A 38-20 loss to the Titans (6-10) in Nashville on Sunday was a fitting end to a disastrous 2-14 season for the Jaguars. This game was a microcosm of Jacksonville’s season. It started with promise, but a flurry of mistakes led to a disappointing end.

In this case, a series of big plays from the Titans erased a 14-7 Jacksonville lead. The Jaguars weren’t able to mount any kind of a serious comeback and ended the year with their worst record in franchise history.

Offense: D

There were a few bright spots, but QB Chad Henne made too many critical mistakes. He threw three INTs, including two that were returned for touchdowns by Titans LB Zach Brown. Henne did go 25 of 41 (60.9 percent) for 298 yards and two TDs, but his INTs are what will be remembered. TE Marcedes Lewis had seven catches for 103 yards. RB Keith Toston, who was the fifth RB starter for Jacksonville this season, had a nice game with 17 carries for 74 yards. The Jaguars struggled to protect Henne, who was sacked seven times. Previous game's grade: B+

Defense: B+

It might seem strange that the defense would get a B+ in a game where the opponent scored 38 points, but the unit was strong. The Titans only got 221 yards, one TD and a FG from the offense. The other 28 points were handed the Titans by Jacksonville’s offense and special teams. LB Paul Posluszny led with 10 tackles and two sacks. Previous game's grade: B

Special teams: D

A late blocked punt and score by CB Mike Harris wasn’t enough to overcome two punt-return touchdowns by Titans PR Darius Reynaud. Those scores changed the game. It was tied at 14 before Reynaud’s two electric returns gave Tennessee a two-score edge in the third quarter. P Bryan Anger had good hang time on both punts, so most of the blame falls on the coverage unit for not making tackles. Previous game's grade: B

Coaching: F

The Jags had a chance to build on last week’s close loss to the Patriots with a season-ending win over the Titans. They didn’t even come close to getting it done. After a fast start, they were plagued by big errors that they couldn’t overcome. That was the story all year. There were small signs of progress that were erased by larger errors. All coach Mike Mularkey can do is wait and see if he’ll get a second chance to turn fortunes around in Jacksonville. Previous game's grade: B-
