The Jaguars (2-11) thought they could find the win column against an offensively challenged New York Jets (6-7) team. Instead, The Jets pounded them on the ground and made enough plays to hand the Jags yet another loss.

Injuries really took their toll here. Playing without QB Blaine Gabbert (arm), RB Maurice Jones-Drew (foot) and WR Cecil Shorts (concussion), the Jags were limited in what they could do on offense. QB Chad Henne did lead a nice last-minute drive that put them in position to tie the game late, but an INT inside the 5-yard line ended that hope. RB Montell Owens, the fourth starter of the year at that position, had 14 carries for 91 yards and a TD. But in total, 291 yards of offense along with two INTs wasn't enough to get the job done. The Jets only finished the day with 270 total yards of offense, but they made enough plays, especially in the run game, to pull out the win. RBs Shonn Greene and Bilal Powell combined for 155 yards and two TDs on 39 carries. One drive that began late in the third quarter was especially devastating to the Jaguars. The Jets handed off to Powell seven straight times and he took the team 46 yards for a TD on those seven carries. New York QB Mark Sanchez was mostly limited, but he made a key 37-yard pass to TE Jeff Cumberland in the fourth quarter that allowed the Jets to run the clock down late. Previous game's grade: C

P Bryan Anger did a nice job of pinning the Jets deep. Five of his eight punts were downed inside the 20. K Josh Scobee hit a 31-yard FG, but had a rare miss as well. There continues to be nothing special about the return teams. The Jags averaged less than 20 yards per kickoff return and had only one decent punt return of 14 yards. Previous game's grade: B-

Beating the Titans in Week 12 seems like a long time ago for coach Mike Mularkey. After dropping two straight winnable games against the Bills and the Jets, Mularkey is feeling the heat again. His personnel was limited on Sunday, but the Jaguars again couldn't get the job done. Perhaps Mularkey will wish he had done more to stop the run and make Sanchez win the game.
