Jaguars: TE Zach Miller still on the roster bubble

The Jaguars have one more preseason game left before final cuts must be made Friday night. Veteran TE Zach Miller is one of the veteran players who will have to sweat it out until the final cuts are made.

It's an unexpected situation for Miller, who came into preseason feeling confident about being the team's backup tight end. His lack of durability is his biggest problem at this point. Miller missed most of 2011 with a shoulder injury, and he has been plagued again this preseason with a partially torn pectoral muscle and a lower leg injury.

He will sit in the final preseason game Thursday against the Falcons, and hopes to beat out Colin Cloherty and Zach Potter for the spot behind starter Marcedes Lewis.

Here's a look at who else is fighting for one of the final roster spots:

Brian Robiskie (WR, 39 career receptions for 441 yards) -- He has a good shot at landing the fifth WR spot behind Justin Blackmon, Laurent Robinson, Mike Thomas and Cecil Shorts. He's not a lock, though. He's been productive in the preseason, but rookie Kevin Elliot has shown a lot of upside at times in camp. Robiskie might be the best choice for 2012, but the Jaguars might favor Eliot for his long-term potential.
Julian Stanford (LB, undrafted rookie) -- LBs Paul Posluszny, Daryl Smith, Kyle Bosworth, Russell Allen and Brandon Marshall should all feel pretty good about their spot on the roster. With veteran Clint Session (concussion) out, that leaves one or two more spots to be claimed. Stanford had some strong moments in the preseason. He will be fighting other rookies such as J.K. Schaffer and Joshua Jones for a spot. The one who shows up the most on special teams Thursday might get the nod.
Jalen Parmele (RB, 24 career games) -- He might be the biggest fan of Maurice Jones-Drew's holdout. He is battling Keith Toston and Montell Owens to be the backup for Rashad Jennings. The Jaguars potentially can afford to keep him as a reserve RB and return specialist while MJD is still out.
