It’s been a pretty good day in Pittsburgh.
Earlier on Tuesday, receiver Mike Wallace reported to Steelers camp after finally signing his restricted free agent tender and immediately brought smiles to those residing in the Pittsburgh locker room. And later in the day, the Steelers announced they’ve taken linebacker James Harrison off the Physically Unable to Perform list.
This move was expected -- it would have been a much bigger surprise if Harrison, coming off arthroscopic knee surgery a few weeks back, had gone into the season on the PUP list, which would have caused him to miss at least the first six weeks of the season -- but it’s also welcome news.
The 34-year-old Harrison has insisted all along that he’ll return for the Sept. 9 season opener vs. the Broncos. That goal doesn’t seem to have changed.
“I might need a little prep, we got a couple of new things (on defense), but other than that I think I'll be all right,” Harrison said earlier this month. “You've got to get back in timing with the other guys and everything else, and a few days of practice would help.”
In other Steelers-linebackers-coming-off-the-PUP-list news, Jason Worilds, Harrison’s backup, also has been activated to the active roster.
