What matters: The running game has improved, and the Jets need to make sure they don’t let up. If they can keep momentum in the running game, it will take pressure off QB Mark Sanchez from having to engineer another game from behind.
Who matters: RB Shonn Greene. Greene has increased his production the past couple of weeks. Against Miami, he will have to continue to put up significant numbers to help the Jets control the clock and support the passing game.
Key matchups: The defensive line vs. Dolphins RB Reggie Bush and Miami’s running game. The Jets' run defense has taken great steps forward since the first time these teams played in Week 2. But even coach Rex Ryan said that although stopping Bush is unlikely, they have to contain him.
Injuries of note: RB Joe McKnight has had a sprained ankle for the past two weeks. C Nick Mangold has a sprained ankle. Both have played with these injuries. LB Bart Scott has a toe injury that has greatly reduced his playing time. S Eric Smith has a knee injury. NT Kenrick
Ellis has a knee injury. NT Sione Po’uha is still struggling with a lower-back problem. TE Jeff Cumberland dislocated a bone in his right hand.
Inside stuff: The Jets haven't swept Miami during Ryan’s tenure in New York.
Bulletin board material: “Every time he sees me, he’ll remember that hit,” LaRon Landry on his hit on Bush in the team’s first meeting this year. Bush left the game with a knee injury.
Connections: Offensive coordinator Tony Sparano was the coach of the Dolphins from 2008-2011; S Yeremiah Bell played for the Dolphins from 2004-2011; WR Clyde Gates was selected by the Dolphins in the 4th round of the 2011 draft.
Stat you should know: The Dolphins are fourth in the NFL in run defense.
