Backup quarterback Matt Leinart wasn’t on the Raiders’ list of injured players ruled out for Saturday’s game against Detroit, but he did not suit up for the game.
Leinart, a left-hander, suffered a lacerated right index finger last week against Arizona. He has no problem throwing, but with his injured finger still heavily wrapped, taking snaps and handing off pose problems.
Starting quarterback Carson Palmer is expected to play most, if not all, of the first half, and he might even take the first series in the third quarter.
No. 3 quarterback Terrelle Pryor moves up to No. 2 against Detroit and will get another long look in the second half. The question is whether quarterback Kyle Newhall-Caballero, an undrafted rookie from Brown, will make his Raiders debut. He threw for 2,356 yards and 18 touchdowns as a senior.
