Raiders MLB Rolando McClain returned to practice Wednesday after serving his two-game suspension for conduct detrimental to the team, but based on the early portion of practice, he likely won't regain his starting job Sunday against Kansas City.
Omar Gaither, who filled in at middle linebacker during McClain's suspension, worked with the starting front seven during group drills.
McClain took handoffs as a scout running back as the first-team linebackers and linemen worked on run defense and gap control.
McClain hadn't practiced since Nov. 28 when he was kicked out of practice after an argument with coach Dennis Allen during group drills. McClain was reinstated to the 53-man roster Monday but was excused from practice that day while Allen was in Texas for the funeral of his father, Grady.
Allen returned to the team on Tuesday and was expected to talk to McClain on Wednesday morning for the first time since his suspension.
