The Lions placed tight end David Ausberry on injured reserve Tuesday due to an undisclosed injury. He had missed the last week of practice.
Ausberry was vying for the role of third-string tight end behind Brandon Pettigrew and Eric Ebron.
To take his spot on the roster, the Lions signed second-year cornerback Jocquel Skinner.
