Richard Sherman's celebrity softball game was held on Sunday at Safeco Field in Seattle. Via Sherman's web site, here's a description of the event:
Blanket Coverage: The Richard Sherman Family Foundation is excited to present its 3rd Annual Charity Dinner and Auction. 100% of all net proceeds from this year's event will go directly to Blanket Coverage. With proceeds from last year's dinner and softball game, Blanket Coverage donated $62,500 in $2,500 incremental gifts, to 25 different nonprofits. Over the holidays we provided 25 Seattle-area families in need with gifts and a holiday experience for the whole family with several Seahawks players at the Seahawks facility. Finally we were able to provide hundreds of backpacks and school supplies to students in Washington state including many of the victims of the Carlton Complex fire in eastern Washington.
This year's event promises to be the best yet. John Curley Auctions will be conducting a live auction that will feature some very unique and rare items. We will also have a silent auction available for the first hour of our event. And finally, you won't want to miss the opportunity to meet Richard Sherman and several of the local and national celebrities in attendance that night as they prepare for our annual softball game the next day. Come dressed in your best cocktail attire. Please note there will not be an opportunity to collect autographs as this will be a formal dinner event. The evening promises to be a very special one and we hope you and your friends will join us.
Many athletes, including numerous Seahawks as well as some basketball players, were on hand, and some media members were there as well. Sherman's web site lists Russell Wilson, Kam Chancellor, Marshawn Lynch, Kevin Durant, Doug Baldwin, Brandon Browner, Charissa Thompson, Earl Thomas, Jeron Johnson, Byron Maxwell, Russell Westbrook, Larry Fitzgerald, Shawn Kemp, Matt Barnes, Dez Bryant, Joe Haden, Jermaine Kearse, Jamal Crawford, Bobby Wagner, Cary Williams, Isaiah Thomas, Claudia Jordan, Nick Young, LT Hutton, Brian McKnight and Floyd Mayweather as participants, though not quite all of them made it, according to some tweets about the game.
Sherman, Haden and Browner held a press conference before the event, where we can only imagine what was said.
Russell Wlson, who was drafted by the Texas Rangers at one point, won the Home Run Derby.
Here's Sherman's squad before the game.
Sherman then led off the game and cranked the first pitch out of the park.
And Durant had some adventures in the field.
