Antoine Bethea is set to start for the 49ers this season at strong safety with Eric Reid entrenched at free safety. But the former doesn't know who their secondary mates will be and he's expecting quite a battle.
The team has no rookies at that position, but 2014 draftees Dontae Johnson, Kenneth Acker and Keith Reaser could be factors. Bethea says the competition has already begun.
"We've had a short minicamp and everybody's learning, so there are really no position, but when training camp comes, there's going to be a lot of competition, a lot of good competition," he told NFL.com. I'm excited to see it."
