Jake Locker earned a reputation at the University of Washington for being too amped at the start of games, which sometimes caused him to throw high.
Locker had an inauspicious start to Tennessee Titans' training camp Saturday when his first pass sailed over WR Nate Washington's head on a crossing route. The pass was intercepted by FS Michael Griffin.
“I got the bad ones out of the way,” Locker joked.
Matt Hasselbeck attempted more deep passes than Locker but overthrew Washington and Marc Mariani on fly routes down the right sideline.
Titans QB Competition Tracker
7-on-7 Drills -- Locker mostly checked down, connecting with RB Chris Johnson and Nate Washington on short passes. S Aaron Francisco jumped a crossing route to deflect a Locker pass intended for WR Lavelle Hawkins. Hasselbeck completed passes to Damian Williams on an inside breaking route and on a comeback. Mariani dropped a sure catch from Hasselbeck on the right sideline.
Hasselbeck: 4 of 7, 0 TDs, 0 INTs; Locker: 5 of 8, 0 TDs, 1 INT.
11-on-11 Drills -- Locker was 7 for 7 but again hardly attempted any throws downfield. Locker completed two screen passes to FB Collin Mooney and another to RB Javon Ringer. Locker had the only fumble of the session on a missed exchange with C Kevin Matthews. Unlike the 7-on-7 drills, Hasselbeck hardly threw downfield. His best throw may have come on a completion to TE Brandon Barden off a bootleg.
Hasselbeck: 4 of 7, 0 TDs, 0 INTs; Locker: 7 of 7, 0 TDs, 0 INTs.
Total -- Hasselbeck: 8 of 14, 0 TDs, 0 INTs; Locker: 12 of 15, 0 TD s, 0 INTs
