As if the Packers defense, which was without four starters in Sunday’s win at St. Louis, isn’t depleted enough, S Charles Woodson suffered a broken collarbone in the game and is expected to be out six weeks, sources confirmed to CBSSports.com.
The 15-year veteran played the entire game against the Rams except for the final series, and he met with the media at his locker afterward, without revealing that he was injured. The Packers only announced one injury, to DE Mike Neal, after the game.
This is the second time Woodson has broken his collarbone. The first time was in Super Bowl XLV and Woodson could not finish the game.
The Packers will probably fill Woodson’s position in the base defense with M.D. Jennings or Jerron McMillian. His slot corner spot in the nickel and dime packages will likely be manned by rookie Casey Hayward, who started against the Rams and has four interceptions in the past three games.
