The Packers have locked up another key member of their close-knit offensive line. LG T.J. Lang has agreed to a four-year contract extension, his agent announced Monday night on Twitter. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. With Lang signed through 2016, the Packers have their top six linemen under contract for at least the next two seasons.
A versatile utility lineman his first two years, Lang settled in at LG in 2011 and thrived. He had his best season by far, playing every offensive snap of every game. Lang is especially close to RG Josh Sitton (signed through 2016) and RT Bryan Bulaga (signed through 2014), which was one reason agent Mike McCartney said Lang wanted to sign the extension.
"You know how those guys are," McCartney told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "They're blue collar guys, they're good teammates. When they see a good thing, when they're in a spot they enjoy and they're with a team they like, it's a little easier [to get a deal done]. … He's thrilled. He really wanted to be with the Packers. He loves playing here."
OT Derek Sherrod is under contract through 2014 and LT Marshall Newhouse and C Jeff Saturday through 2013.
Lang was slated to make $1.26 million this season.
