Highlights from Packers coach Mike McCarthy’s press conference Friday as they prepare to face the Seahawks at Seattle’s raucous CenturyLink Field on Monday Night Football this week.
On injured WR Greg Jennings (groin), who was limited in practice after sitting out Thursday’s session: “Greg Jennings went through the rehab process, felt good, was able to do some of the team drills. We’ll see how he is tomorrow.”
On TE Tom Crabtree’s injured shoulder: “It’s just bothering him. Tom Crabtree’s shoulder is something he’s going to be dealing with for quite some time because we just don’t have the time to sit and heal it.”
On CB Davon House, who’s practicing with his hurt shoulder in a protective harness: “He’s getting more comfortable. With the harness, it’s something different. We’ve been fortunate to have two padded practices. We have a lot of information on where he’s at with the injury. He’s working through it.”
On if he feels good about the team’s depth at cornerback: “Definitely. We have a few guys that are pushing through some injuries, obviously Davon (House) is one of them. I feel like we have good depth.”
On RB James Starks, who returned to practice this week after sitting out more than a month with a turf toe injury: “He’s getting better. I had a chance to talk with James after practice yesterday. It’s a very painful injury; it’s something he has to work through. He’s getting better, been able to take his share of reps at practice. Really don’t have a time clock for [his return].”
On Seattle’s loud stadium and how it helps to have a veteran offense: “We haven’t always been a veteran offense. You start with your offensive line and quarterback, that’s the biggest stress point in my mind when you play in loud stadiums. The perimeter players have to keep their eye on the ball. Aaron does a very job with cadence, in loud stadiums and in our own stadium. It’s something we put a lot of time into as far as our cadence, and not just training one quarterback and one center. It’ll be a big challenge, something we’ve been preparing for all week.”
On the Seahawks’ young and fast defense: “It’s young instead of old, fast instead of slow. They’re impressive. Been impressed with their tape. They play with a lot of energy, high motor. They’re a different defense at home, just comparing the Arizona game with the Dallas game.”
On how he’ll go forward with the running game when Starks returns: “The run game, protections, pass game, it really comes down to the plan during the week. You have to trust the practice process. If you don’t, then why do it. I’m a big believer of working pads, working as a team; it affects the way I call the game. If a call doesn’t work during the week, we’re not going to call it in a game.”
