WR Greg Jennings did not participate in practice Tuesday, bad news for a Packers team that has just two more days to prepare for their Week 2 game against the rival Chicago Bears.
Jennings hurt his groin on the final drive of Sunday’s 30-22 loss to the San Francisco 49ers, taking himself out of the game with less than two minutes remaining. The Packers did not practice on Monday, and Jennings didn’t make himself available to reporters in the locker room. But coach Mike McCarthy said he spoke to Jennings, who had five catches for 34 yards, after the game and the receiver “didn’t feel very good about it.”
On Tuesday, while the team went through drills, Jennings was one of three players not on the practice field, along with RB James Starks (turf toe) and LB Terrell Manning (concussion). After practice, McCarthy again addressed questions about Jennings’ injury and his status for Thursday night’s game against the Bears.
“His workout and rehab went well,” McCarthy said. “Tomorrow will be the big day.” He added that the injury is “probably more of an endurance issue.”
There’s no good time for Green Bay to be without its top wideout, but now is especially bad. Coming off the season-opening loss at home, the Packers have a short week to prepare for the Bears.
DE C.J. Wilson (groin), CB Davon House (shoulder) and LB Jamari Lattimore (ankle) were limited in practice. McCarthy said Starks, who’s been out indefinitely for a month, is doubtful for Thursday’s game.
