Rainout: Practice on Monday was a near washout. Storms sent the public home and the players into the Wofford College gym to walk through plays in shorts on the basketball court. With more rain expected, Tuesday’s practice was moved to 10:30 A.M. to try to get it in before the showers hit.
Injured players return: DT Ron Edwards was back on the field for the abbreviated practice Monday. He’s attempting to return from a torn triceps that kept him out all last season. He battled a hamstring injury in minicamp, and has missed time in training camp with a minor knee injury. Rookie CB Josh Norman, who suffered a hamstring injury, was also back on the field.
Injured players still out: OL Lee Ziemba suffered a knee injury and met with doctors Monday. He may undergo a procedure next week to determine how severe the injury is. CB Brandon Hogan, expected to compete with Norman for a chance to unseat Captain Munnerlyn, has not returned to practice after injuring his knee.
Injured players about to return: WR David Gettis is still on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list, but coach Ron Rivera said he may be back by the end of the week. Rivera said that Gettis wouldn’t be available for Saturday’s preseason opener against Houston, however.
