Panthers vs. Falcons: Live updates, score, results, highlights, for Sunday's NFL game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Panthers vs. Falcons football game
The Carolina Panthers watched the action from their couches last weekend, but are set to take to the field. Carolina and the Atlanta Falcons will face off in an NFC South battle at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday at Bank of America Stadium. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W.'
The Panthers have to be hurting after a devastating 33-10 loss at the hands of the Miami Dolphins two weeks ago. QB Cam Newton had a memorable game, but not in the way you want to be remembered: despite one touchdown, he threw two interceptions with a passing completion percentage of only 23.81%.
Meanwhile, Atlanta came up short against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week, falling 30-17. No one had a standout game offensively for the Falcons, but they got scores from DE Marlon Davidson and RB Mike Davis.
This next matchup is expected to be close, with Carolina going off at just a 2.5-point favorite. But bettors beware: they are only 2-4 against the spread when favored.
The losses bumped both teams down to an identical 5-7. Two defensive stats to keep an eye on: Carolina enters the contest with only 290.9 yards allowed per game on average, good for second best in the NFL. Less enviably, Atlanta is stumbling into the game with the second most touchdowns allowed in the league, having given up 35 on the season.
