The Patriots concluded training camp Friday with a light and quick practice. It ended on a high note, in the annual tradition, as DE Chandler Jones caught a punt that gave the team the night off.
Extra work: QB Tom Brady worked on a side field with TE Rob Gronkowski and WR Brandon Lloyd running routes. Both players have missed a few practices this week, so perhaps Brady is playing catchup with them. But with WR Wes Welker leaving practice -- likely not for injury reasons -- it could indicate that the starters might not be playing against the Eagles on Monday night.
More picks: S Nate Ebner, a sixth-round pick, had two interceptions. That gives him four this week alone.
Vollmer getting closer?: RT Sebastian Vollmer, who had an off-season back procedure, seems to be on track for the regular season. He ran with the rehab group in view of the media for the first time, and seemed to come out of it well. With the struggles that Marcus Cannon has had, the Patriots need Vollmer to last the entire season.
