Under the lights: The Patriots conducted their first practice inside the stadium in front of season-ticket holders and residents of Foxborough. The team again had a huge turnout, likely some 17,000 people.

Low numbers: The list of players sitting out is starting to get longer. In addition to the PUP list guys, WR Brandon Lloyd, WR Deion Branch, C/G Dan Connolly, DT Jonathan Fanene, DT Rob Ninkovich, TE Visanthe Shiancoe and DB Will Allen were all out with undisclosed injuries.

Fighting words: The Patriots are getting sick of hitting each other. C Dan Koppen got into shoving matches with two defenders before LT Nate Solder took a cheap shot at LB Brandon Spikes while he was on the ground. S Patrick Chung retaliated and that started a fairly sizable fight between several players. Solder had to run a lap in solitude.

Line changes: The Patriots took Koppen off the first offensive line in favor of Ryan Wendell and the unit had its best practice of camp. They went 7-7-4 against the line in one-on-ones, and opened up some sizable holes in a practice that focused on the running game. The starting line was Solder, LG Donald Thomas, Wendell, RG Robert Gallery and RT Marcus Cannon.

Highlights: TE Aaron Hernandez continues to have a spectacular camp. He made three more difficult catches in the practice. ... Cannon has rebounded from a slow start. He went 2-0 in one-on-ones, showing off his quick feet. .... DT Gerard Warren was 2-0 for the defensive line. ... DE Jermaine Cunningham was rewarded for his strong start by starting at LDE with the first team. He was an underwhelming 0-2 in one-on-ones. ... LB Dont'a Hightower looks like a natural at SLB. He stood up FB Spencer Larsen in the hole.

Lowlights: QB Ryan Mallett was picked off by CB Kyle Arrington and LB Bobby Carpenter and watched backup Brian Hoyer complete 4 of 5 passes in a successful two-minute drill. Mallett didn't get a chance. ... Koppen was the victim of a club move by DT Kyle Love in one-on-ones and was shoved completely out of the way.
