The Eagles opened training camp at Lehigh University on Monday morning, with rookies and selected veterans taking part in a morning workout and an afternoon practice without pads.
Who's here: QB Michael Vick, who was busy promoting his autobiography, “Finally Free,” in the weeks before camp opened and now is facing the challenge of leading the Eagles back into the playoffs after a disappointing 2011 season.
Who's not: Starting DT Mike Patterson, who will miss all of camp and maybe beyond after having brain surgery in the offseason. The Eagles do expect Patterson to play football again, but they don’t know when. That will mean an expanded role for rookie Fletcher Cox, the first-round draft pick from Mississippi State. But the rookie who has the best chance to make the biggest impact this season is LB Mychal Kendricks, who ran with the first team throughout the spring minicamps and will be given every opportunity to win the job in training camp.
