No. 13 Wisconsin ( 1-0, 0-0 Big Ten) at Oregon State (0-0, 0-0 Pac-12)
Kickoff: Saturday, 4 p.m. ET (FX)
Spread: Wisconsin by 8
Watchability: Pretty good -- the Badgers should be hungry after a Week 1 disappointing win; Oregon State is itching to begin after having its opener postponed.
Shining stars: Wisconsin: The Badgers' attack begins -- and ends -- with Montee Ball. Last week, he did little to cement his Heisman candidacy with only 120 yards on 32 carries against Northern Iowa. That 120 yards elicits an "only," though, bodes well for the star back. Oregon State: While Oregon State's pass defense has fallen on tough times the last few years, senior cornerback Jordan Poyer has been good. He'll have to be great this season, and he's welcoming the chance.
Who could steal the show: Wisconsin: Jared Abbrederis had a breakout year with 933 yards and eight scores last year. With the running game needing a break every so often, he's the guy Wisconsin turns to. A 1,000-yard season should be in the near future. Oregon State: Wide receiver Markus Wheaton's numbers have grown steadily, leading up to a nice junior year of 73 grabs for 986 yards. His one touchdown left a bit to be desired, though, and he'll look for his first score in Week 1.
You going? Ranking the road trip: Worth it, if only to see the Beaver fans get their dose of football a week late. Plus, Ball is worth the price of any admission.
Magic number for Wisconsin: 200. Ball should be able to bounce back from a surprisingly tame Week 1, and the 200-yard mark is staring him in the face.
Magic number for Oregon State: 300. After Jacquizz Rodgers bounced to the NFL, the Beavers' running game was left scrambling. Quarterback Sean Mannion benefitted last season with extra opportunities, and his passing fancy could continue as he targets the 300-yard mark.
The game comes down to: The Badgers' running game living up to its potential -- and the hype. Another less-than-expected week won't do much for Ball's postseason award hopes.
Prediction: Wisconsin 34, Oregon State 20
