Raiders starting DT Richard Seymour missed his second straight day of practice Thursday with knee and hamstring injuries. Seymour has dealt with a knee injury all season and hasn't missed a start, but the hamstring injury occurred Sunday against Tampa Bay and appears to be a serious threat to his availability against Baltimore.
Allen said that holding Seymour out Thursday was more than a precautionary measure.
"He couldn't practice today if he had to," coach Dennis Allen said.
Seymour said he's had hamstring injuries in the past and that they "affect everything" a defensive lineman does.
"I'm working hard, doing everything I can," Seymour said. "When it's ready, I'll be back."
If Seymour can't play, Desmond Bryant would probably start in his place. Starting defensive end Lamarr Houston has spent some time at tackle this season and could spell Bryant. Veteran defensive end Dave Tollefson has experience at tackle, and rookie tackle Christo Bilukidi is another option for the rotation.
Barnes getting back up to speed: Starting right tackle Khalif Barnes, who missed the last six games with a groin injury that required surgery, practiced for the second straight day but said he's "not quite sure yet" if he will be ready to play Sunday. "I'll probably need a few more days to do that," said Barnes, who was limited in practice.
"I feel pretty good. ... Obviously I've got some kinks to get out, but you'll get those out the more you're on the field. Each day that goes by, the more familiar I get with stuff, the muscle memory starts coming back, and that's how I'm approaching it."
Barnes was injured in Week 2 against Miami on a play in the second quarter.
"I was going to cut off a linebacker, going to cut-block him, and I took that left step and it kind of split from there," Barnes said. "It was that one play."
Barnes had surgery five days later and was sidelined for seven-plus weeks. Willie Smith replaced Barnes against Miami and has started the last six games.
"It's been kind of tough, man," Barnes said. "Any time you're dealing with an injury that's going to have you out and lose some time like that, it's going to be a tough deal. It's something I never had to deal with."
Allen said he would not name a starting right tackle for the Baltimore game until Friday but listed Smith, Barns and rookie Tony Bergstrom as candidates.
Huff gets the nod at left cornerback again: Michael Huff will start his seventh straight game at left cornerback, Allen said. Allen has not named his starter at right corner, but there's a chance that Ron Bartell could come off the short-term injured reserve list and start in place of Pat Lee.
Bartell, who suffered a broken shoulder blade in the opener against San Diego, returned to practice last week.
"I feel good about where he's at," Allen said of Bartell.
Huff moved from free safety to corner after injuries to Bartell and starting corner Shawntae Spencer (foot). Matt Giordano took over for Huff at free safety. Giordano injured his hamstring last week against Tampa Bay but practiced for the second straight day, albeit limited, and appears to be good to go for Baltimore.
Spencer hasn't practiced since being injured against Miami and will undoubtedly miss his seventh straight game Sunday.
