OLB Kaelin Burnett is the second player the Raiders have promoted off the practice squad this season.(US Presswire) |
The Raiders signed outside linebacker Kaelin Burnett off their practice squad to their 53-man roster Saturday.
Burnett, an undrafted rookie from Nevada, takes the roster spot that opened when the Raiders waived veteran linebacker Aaron Curry on Tuesday.
Burnett will likely be active for Sunday's game at Cincinnati and fill a role on special teams. During the exhibition season, he saw time at strong-side linebacker and defensive end in the nickel where he impressed at time with his pass-rush skills.
The 6-foot-4, 240-pound Burnett had 93 tackles and 10 sacks during three seasons at Nevada.
Burnett's brother, Kevin, is a starting linebacker for the Miami Dolphins and is in his eighth NFL season.
Burnett is the second practice squad player signed to the Raiders' 53-man roster this season, joining running back Jeremy Stewart.
