The Raiders announced Tuesday that they've waived veteran linebacker Aaron Curry, who spent most of this season on the Physically Unable to Perform list with knee injuries.
Curry missed all of training camp and spent just two weeks on the 53-man roster. He had a handful of plays against Baltimore on defense and special teams but drew two personal foul penalties.
Then on Sunday, he had just three defensive snaps and five special teams plays.
After being released, Curry tweeted: "I am confident in my abilities to play linebacker, I know God will cook something up for me!! Yes I will miss the #BlackHole and all of #RaiderNation! It's been an amazing time in the Bay!"
Curry, 26, came to the Raiders from Seattle in a trade on Oct. 14, 2011, for a seventh-round pick in the 2012 draft and a conditional pick in 2013.
Last year, he appeared in 11 games with nine starts for the Raiders with 46 tackles and two fumble recoveries.
Seattle drafted Curry with the fourth overall pick in 2009 out of Wake Forest. He started 30 games in two-plus seasons with the Seahawks. In 2008 at Wake Forest, he received the Butkus Award, which honors the nation's top college linebacker.
Last week, the Raiders placed linebacker Travis Goethel on injured reserve but signed former Eagles linebacker Omar Gaither, who has experience playing outside and middle linebacker as well as special teams. Gaither made his Raiders debut Sunday against New Orleans.
With Curry waived, the Raiders have another spot to fill on their 53-man roster.
