When Rams wide receiver Stedman Bailey went out for the pregame coin toss before St. Louis' 24-0 win over the Redskins on Sunday, he thought he was out there as a reward for playing well lately.
Bailey had no idea he was just a mere pawn in his coach's diabolical prank.
Just minutes before the coin toss, coach Jeff Fisher approached Bailey and five other players and told them they would he handling the coin toss duties against Washington.
"We just kinda looked at each other like, 'OK, maybe these are the guys that have been playing good lately,'" Bailey said, via the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. "We weren't really sure.'"
As it turned out, the players handling the coin toss -- Janoris Jenkins, Michael Brockers, Zac Stacy, Greg Robinson, Alec Ogletree and Bailey -- all had one thing in common: They were all acquired using picks from the 2012 draft trade that ended with Robert Griffin III going to Washington.
To add insult to injury, five of the six Rams players started -- and RG3 didn't.
Fisher probably would have sent out all eight players he acquired, but Rokevious Watkins is no longer with the team and Isaiah Pead is on injured reserve.
"I didn’t know that was the statement that was made," Bailey said. "Now that you're telling me, that makes a lot of sense. I'm glad Coach Fisher did that."
The Redskins didn't seem to have any idea what was happening, which was what made the troll job so perfect. Washington actually tweeted a clip of the coin toss from its official Twitter account.

Let it be known to all NFL coaches: Jeff Fisher has officially raised the trolling bar.
