Center Matt Birk described the Ravens' offensive line as the deepest it's been during the four seasons he's been with the Ravens.
He may have a point. Balitimore's top eight linemen are practically set. Assuming Baltimore keeps nine linemen, there are a few quality young players vying for the last spot.
OT: Michael Oher, Bryant McKinnie.
OG: Bobbie Williams, Marshal Yanda.
C: Matt Birk, Gino Gradkowski.
T/G: Kelechi Osemele, Jah Reid.
So who do the Ravens take with the last available spot?
The candidates: OT Ramon Harewood, G/C Tony Wragge, G/C Justin Boren.
Harewood has been snakebitten with injuries during his first two seasons in Baltimore. He's been healthy for the majority of training camp and is hoping to be a part of this year's 53-man roster. A sixth-round pick in 2010, Harewood has ideal size for a tackle at 6-6, 334 pounds, but he hasn't been able to put together the consistency in practice that's needed for someone three years into the NFL.
Wragge is an eight-year veteran who last played for the St. Louis Rams. His addition would add depth to guard, and he could be used as an emergency center. Wragge is mentally sound and possesses natural strength. However, he's limited as an athlete, which could make it tough for him against the defensive fronts that he'd see against Pittsburgh and Cincinnati.
Boren was on the Ravens practice squad in 2011 and has a rapport with offensive line coach Andy Moeller that dates back to when the two of them were at Michigan in 2006-07 (before Boren transferred to Ohio State). Boren is versatile and hard to move at the point of attack. But like Wragge, he's a limited athlete. He's also undersized at 6-2, 315 pounds. If he doesn't make the 53-man roster, he could be back on the practice squad in 2012.
