The Ravens signed safety James Ihedigbo on Sunday after he visited with the organization earlier this weekend.
Ihedigbo started 12 games for New England’s defense in 2011, tallying 69 tackles and one pass breakup. Ihedigbo was part of a New England unit that reached the Super Bowl but finished the regular season 31st in the NFL.
“Fresh start...God is good..honored to be a Baltimore Raven!!!!” Ihedigbo tweeted.
Ihedigbo was undrafted in 2007 and signed with New York Jets. New England released him Friday.
In addition, the Ravens completed their practice squad on Sunday by signing former Steelers quarterback Dennis Dixon. Pittsburgh drafted Dixon in the fifth round of the 2008 NFL Draft and has played in four career NFL games, including a start against Baltimore in 2009, a game the Ravens won 20-17 in overtime.
Dixon joins S Omar Brown, S Anthony Levine, OLB Adrian Hamilton, LB Josh Bynes, OL Antoine McClain, OL Jack Cornell and RB Anthony Allen on the Ravens practice squad.
