It’s not just about Robert Griffin III. The Redskins have other players who will be on the spot vs. St. Louis on Sunday:
- RT Tyler Polumbus. He had a rough opener against New Orleans and now faces St. Louis end Chris Long. It could get rougher for Polumbus. At 6-foot-8 Polumbus struggles to get low and then stay low, causing him to lose power when engaging. Long’s speed around the edge will be an issue.
- NT Barry Cofield. With the Rams playing a backup center in Rob Turner, who is filling in for the injured Scott Wells. Turner received a lot of work here during camp and in the opener, but Cofield presents another tough challenge. Cofield hasn’t been flashy, but has been difficult to move and his quickness could pose problems against a weakened interior.
- LB Ryan Kerrigan. Both he and Brian Orakpo could have big games, unless Sam Bradford continues to unload the ball quickly. But the Redskins success in collapsing the pocket is made for Kerrigan, who doesn’t always generate the first pressure but is good at cleaning up. The Rams are weak at tackle, especially if LT Rodger Saffold, who was injured last week, doesn’t play and is replaced by Wayne Hunter.
