Left guard Kory Lichtensteiger said he’s confident he’ll play in the Sept. 9 season opener after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his left knee earlier in camp.
He told the Washington Times and 106.7 The Fan that he hyperextended his knee on July 27. A day later, during a walk-through, it became sore so he pulled himself out of practice. He had the surgery July 30. Lichtensteiger tore his ACL and MCL as well as medial and lateral meniscus last season.
“I definitely was healthy, so it doesn’t make me feel good [about the knee] at all,” Lichtensteiger said. “I’m encouraged by the fact that it was a minor thing. The prognosis is good. They expect me to be back out. That’s the encouraging thing for me.
“I feel OK. I’m a week out [from surgery] now. It feels better than any other surgery I’ve ever had. I guess that means it’s nice and minor. I feel like everything is going good.”
