There is no comparison these days between the Seahawks and Redskins. So former Seattle and current Washington safety Jeron Johnson believes he must be careful not to push everything he learned from his old team onto his new one. He prefers to just transfer over what will help his teammates and himself.
Johnson is the lone member of the Redskins secondary that not only played for winning teams, but participated in the last two Super Bowls. He played behind the premier combination of Kam Chancellor and Earl Thomas in Seattle. He is now a starter on a team that must improve greatly to contend for a title.
"I had to shake myself out of comparing everything to Seattle because I'm in a new situation," Johnson told ESPN. "I'd definitely love to have the success we had in Seattle. I bring a little knowledge I did obtain from Seattle. I just want to share the knowledge. I don't want to be Seattle. I want to have our own identity, but who wouldn't want to do the things they've done?
"So it's automatically, 'I did this in Seattle and in Seattle I did that.' I have to shake that whole mentality and get on with what the Redskins are doing now."
Johnson played in 15 of 16 games last season and finished with 12 tackles.
