GM Jerry Reese was asked about SLB Mathias Kiwanuka’s three-year, $21.75 million extension, and he insists it has nothing to do with DE Osi Umenyiora’s contract situation (Umenyiora has asked for a new deal). Reese said the Giants gave Kiwanuka a one-year deal in 2011 to see if he was healthy enough for a longer deal after having neck surgery in 2010. “He got a clean bill of health from our doctors,” Reese said.
