The Buffalo Bills defense just can't catch a break.
Buffalo's first two picks of the 2016 draft are already out with injuries: First-rounder Shaq Lawson had shoulder surgery earlier this offseason and Rex Ryan shot down reports that he could be ready between Week 6 and Week 8. Second-rounder Reggie Ragland tore his ACL and will miss the entire 2016 season. Veteran linebacker Manny Lawson is also out with a torn pectoral.
The Bills saw yet another defensive player go down, as defensive end IK Enemkpali (who you may recognize as The Guy That Punched Geno Smith) tore his ACL during the team's first preseason game. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that Enemkpali is expected to miss the entire season as well.
An MRI is needed to confirm the extent of the injury, but "it looks like a major knee," Rex Ryan said after the game, per ESPN.com. "So that's a tough thing right there. I don't know the extent of it yet. But they said it looks like a major knee injury."
Enemkpali was listed behind Shaq Lawson on the Bills' first official depth chart of the season, so it's possible he would have seen a heavy dose of snaps until the rookie got himself back on the field. If Manny Lawson is not able to return by Week 1 to take over the spot, Ryan indicated that Lorenzo Alexander would get the majority of the snaps.
