Giants tight end Daniel Fells, who underwent unexpected foot surgery this week, will likely be placed on IR, NFL.com's Ian Rapaport reports.
Fells did not travel with the Giants for their Week 4 contest against the Bills, and it appears he could be out for an extended period of time following the foot surgery.
As the team's No. 2 tight end, Fells saw plenty of snaps this season when healthy as Larry Donnell's backup. Donnell will likely receive a more prominent role in Fells' absence, along with Jerome Cunningham (knee) and Will Tye providing additional depth.
