As Jets coach Rex Ryan, expected to be fired, is apparently in the process of cleaning out his office, his agent, Jimmy Sexton, reportedly is taking phone calls. From the Jets. About the availability of another coach Sexton represents.
That's according to Fox Sports' Jay Glazer. In other words, the Jets are so tone-deaf that they called the agent of the coach they still employ in order to gauge interest in another coach on that agent's roster.
In other words, seriously, Jets?
In a report by ESPN's Chris Mortensen, though, there might be a sliver of life in Ryan's Jets career. According to Mortensen, New York owner Woody Johnson is expected to fire general manager John Idzik and then allow the team's next GM to decide Ryan's fate.
But if that doesn't happen, perhaps the Jets will get another of Sexton's clients, who include Alabama's Nick Saban, former Raiders coaches Lane Kiffin and Dennis Allen, Bills coach Doug Marrone, former Browns coach Jimmy Chudzinski, Bills defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz and Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher.
