Life couldn't get much worse for the Dolphins offensive line.
That unit leads the league in sacks allowed, and you might have heard something about the Dolphins losing two of their starters (left guard Richie Incognito and right tackle Jonathan Martin). Late this week, they suffered another blow when the anchor of the line, center Mike Pouncey, had to go to the hospital with kidney and gallbladder issues, according to NFL.com.
Pouncey, according to the report, "wants badly" to play Sunday vs. the Chargers, and on the injury report, he was officially listed as questionable with an illness. But ESPN.com reported Sunday morning that Pouncey will be inactive.
Reportedly, Pouncey had a swollen gallbladder.
Quarterback Ryan Tannehill has been sacked 37 times this season, the most of any team in the league, and that stat probably won't be helped if 2013 undrafted free agent Sam Brenner -- who had been on the practice squad until this week -- has to replace Pouncey.
As bad as Miami's offensive line has been this year, Pouncey is ranked as the No. 6 center in the league, according to Pro Football Focus.
