By releasing WR Hines Ward by the March 13 deadline, the Steelers save $3.37 million of his $4.61 cap hit for 2012, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reported. The move leaves the Steelers positioned to be well under the salary cap -- reportedly by $8 million -- with 11 days to go. Sounds as if they're making room to sign WR Mike Wallace.
