Redskins linebacker and special teams standout Adam Hayward sustained a season-ending knee injury in the second quarter of a preseason game Thursday against Detroit, a source has told ESPN.
Both Hayward and Jay Gruden confirmed that the former needed to be further evaluated, but the source claims that he has a torn ACL.
Hayward hasn't had much luck in regard to health since coming to Washington. He lost the last five games in 2014 with a tibial plateau fracture and finished the season with nine tackles.
