New York Jets coach Rex Ryan remains confident that Jets can still succeed this season, even with key injuries.
He lost two of his best players in consecutive weeks when CB Darrelle Revis tore his ACL and WR Santonio Holmes suffered a Lisfranc injury. They also suffered the second biggest loss since Ryan took over as head coach with a 34-0 blowout by San Francisco. But, Ryan is maintaining a stiff upper lip.
His takeaway after watching the film of Sunday's game, "My team can't play like this. That's not who we are."
Ryan said that regardless of what problems they will confront, the expectations remain the same. "There's no question that this team wants it," he said.
Ryan said the work will start on the practice field and the team will regroup and move forward.
"We do have to rally around each other for sure. [It's a] very similar situaion [to] 2009 when we lost (NT) Kris Jenkins (ACL) and RB Leon Washingon (broken leg). It does check the resolve of your team, but I think that's one of our strengths."
He said he trusts that the character in the Jets locker room is strong and the motivation of his players won't waver. "Last I checked, we were on top of our division, so we have a lot to lose."
