Where: CenturyLink Field, Seattle (FieldTurf, outdoors)
When: Sunday, 4:05 p.m. ET (CBS)
Spread: Seattle by 6
Forecast: Cloudy. Temperature in the upper 40s, 20 percent chance of rain.
Records: Seahawks (Overall: 5-4, NFC West: 0-3); Jets (Overall: 3-4, AFC East: 2-2).
Past results: Two most recent meetings -- Dec. 21, 2008 (Seahawks 13, Jets 3); Dec. 19, 2004 (Jets 37, Seahawks 14). Series record: Seahawks 9-8.
What matters: Winning at home and getting to the bye week in one piece. If the Seahawks are going to stay in the NFC playoff race, winning at home is a must, especially against a reeling Jets team that's 1-4 in its last five games. Staying healthy this week will be important too, the Seahawks had a season-high 13 players on the injury report and every one of those guys probably has Week 11 circled and starred on their calendars. Week 11 is the Seahawks' bye and the last bye week of the NFL regular season.
Who matters: QB Russell Wilson. Wilson has been at his best when playing at home, the rookie quarterback is 4-0 with nine touchdown passes and zero interceptions at CenturyLink Field this season. The only quarterback in the NFL with a better touchdown/interception ratio at home this year is Denver's Peyton Manning (10 TDs/0 INTs).
Key matchups: RB Marshawn Lynch vs. the Jets run defense. If there's one thing that makes Lynch's mouth water more than a bag of skittles, it might be the Jets run defense. New York's run defense is ranked 29th in the NFL and is by far the worst one the Seahawks have seen this season. Twice this year, the Jets have surrendered over 150 yards to a single back -- Buffalo's C.J. Spiller (169) and Houston's Arian Foster (152). If the Jets make a concerted effort to stop Lynch and all signs say they will, that's where Wilson and his 120.2 home quarterback rating come in.
Injuries of note: Although the Seahawks had a season-high 13 players on the injury report, only two have been declared out for Sunday: LB K.J. Wright (concussion) and G James Carpenter (concussion). LB Mike Morgan will make the first start of his career on Sunday in place of Wright, while John Moffitt will start in place of Carpenter. DE Gregg Scruggs (oblique) is listed as doubtful and will be a game time decision, according to coach Pete Carroll.
Inside stuff: The Jets had a bye last week, but that extra rest shouldn't faze the Seahawks. Seattle has played three teams this season that were coming off 10 or more days rest before playing them -- Dallas, Green Bay, Minnesota. The Seahawks are 3-0 in those games. They could push that record to 4-0 on Sunday.
Connections: Pete Carroll coached Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez while both were at USC. Sanchez went pro after his junior year, a decision Carroll thought was wrong... Marcus Trufant won't be the only Trufant on the field on Sunday, his brother, Isaiah Trufant, is a Jets cornerback... RB/KR/PR Leon Washington will face his former team for the first time, Washington spent four seasons with the Jets (2006-09)
Stat you should know: Sanchez has been a turnover machine in the Jets' last five games, throwing five interceptions and losing three fumbles. The Jets are 1-4 in those five games.
Stat you should know 2: Lynch is 119 yards away from 1,000 this season, which would make him the first Seahawks running back to run for 1,000 yards in consecutive years since Shaun Alexander (2004-05).
Looking ahead: The Seahawks have a bye next week, which couldn't come at a better time. Thirteen players were listed on this week's injury report, so the team could use an extra day or two to heal. After the bye, Seattle will go on a cross-country tour, first visiting Miami, then heading to Chicago.
Prediction: Seahawks 27, Jets 13
