The Seahawks have made several practice-squad moves since the beginning of the regular season, but in three weeks, they had yet to make a change to the 53-man roster. That changed Tuesday when Seattle signed CB Danny Gorrer. The Seahawks released RB Kregg Lumpkin to make room for Gorrer on the active roster.
Gorrer comes to Seattle from Baltimore, where he played in 11 games last season, when he had five tackles. Gorrer made it through final cuts with the Ravens this year and at one point was on Baltimore's 53-man roster. But the Ravens decided to part ways with the third-year veteran on Sept. 3 after signing S James Ihedigbo.
Gorrer was an undrafted free agent out of Texas A&M in 2009 who originally signed with the Saints. After being released by New Orleans that same year, Gorrer lwigned with the St. Louis Rams, where he played in three games, starting one.
As for Lumpkin, he became expendable after the team learned that Marshawn Lynch would not be punished for his offseason DUI charge. The team was also worried about Lynch's durability going into the season, but Lynch's back hasn't been a factor in the Seahawks' first two games. Beast Mode ran for 122 yards and a touchdown in Seattle's 27-7 win over Dallas on Saturday.
Lumpkin, who signed with the Seahawks on March 23 as a free agent, never got to play a down with the team, as he was on the inactive list for both of Seattle's first two games.
Practice squad moves: Besides signing Gorrer, the Seahawks also made two practice squad moves Tuesday. The team added OL Rishaw Johnson and LB Korey Toomer. To make room for the duo, the Seahawks released WR Ricardo Lockette and LB Allen Bradford.
