In addition to trading defensive tackle Brian Price to the Bears for an undisclosed draft pick on Thursday, Tampa Bay waived recevier Dezmon Briscoe and defensive back Devin Holland and signed linebacker Thomas Williams to a two-year contract.
Briscoe, the third-year pro out of Kansas, was coming off a solid year in which he played in all 16 games and had 35 catches for 387 yards and a team-best six touchdowns. According to Rotoworld, Briscoe fell out of favor with new coach Greg Schiano when he failed to show for OTAs in May. He was also a long-shot for playing team as the Bucs signed Vincent Jackson in the offseason and also return Mike Williams, Preston Parker and Arrelious Benn.
Williams played in seven games with Carolina in 2011 before a neck injury ended his season. He has 14 career tackles and has played for Jacksonville, Carolina (two different stints) and Buffalo. He started two games at middle linebacker last year for Carolina and also spent some time on special teams.
