Though we know Titans receiver Kenny Britt hates it (absolutely hates it!) when his team fines him for missing rehab assignments, we still don’t know how the NFL will punish him for his latest infraction.
As you probably know, Britt has had eight legal entanglements since he joined the league in 2009, and with his DUI last month, a suspension from the league almost certainly is on its way. We think. Or maybe not.

Either way, Tennessee doesn’t know the details yet, and with receiver Marc Mariani suffering a compound leg fracture Thursday, further weakening the Titans receiver depth, some news from the league office would be welcome.
Unfortunately for Tennessee, that’s not happening quite yet, as Titan Insider reports that NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said that Britt’s case still is under review.

Britt isn’t healthy at this point anyway, coming off three offseason knee procedures, and for now, the most he’d be expected to play in the Sept. 9 season-opener would be 15-20 snaps. Still, that would allow the Titans to play five receivers vs. the Patriots without having to make a roster move to fill Mariani’s spot.
But if Britt is given a suspension between two and four games, Tennessee would feel comfortable only with Nate Washington, Kendall Wright, Damian Williams and Lavelle Hawkins as receivers. Assuming you can count, that’s only four. Which means the Titans would have to find another one.
As Terry McCormick writes, “What this goes back to is this: Roster cuts begin Monday with the final round scheduled to take place next Friday. The Titans need to know Britt’s fate before then. That way they can adjust accordingly to sign or claim a receiver, if need be, to compensate for the low numbers made worse by Mariani’s injury.”
So, when will we hear something?
“There are no specific timelines for these cases,” Aiello told NFL.com. “Each one is unique. When it's done, it's done and we announce something [or not]."
That, I assume, won’t make the Titans' wait any easier.
