Titans vs. Jaguars updates: Live NFL game scores, results for Sunday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Titans vs. Jaguars football game
The Tennessee Titans are 9-2 against the Jacksonville Jaguars since October of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Sunday. Tennessee's bye week comes to an end as they meet up with Jacksonville at 1 p.m. ET at Nissan Stadium. Both of these teams will be looking for a pick-me-up after considerable defeats in their previous games.
A win for the Titans just wasn't in the stars two weeks ago as the squad never even grasped a temporary lead. They suffered a grim 36-13 defeat to the New England Patriots. This game was a close 16-13 at the break, but unfortunately for Tennessee it sure didn't stay that way. Tennessee's loss came about despite a quality game from RB Dontrell Hilliard, who rushed for one TD and 131 yards on 12 carries. That touchdown -- a 68-yard rush in the second quarter -- was one of the highlights of the matchup.
Meanwhile, the oddsmakers predicted a rough contest for Jacksonville last week, and boy were they were right. They ended up on the wrong side of a painful 37-7 walloping at the Los Angeles Rams' hands. Jacksonville was down 30-7 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from. One thing holding the Jaguars back was the mediocre play of QB Trevor Lawrence, who did not have his best game: he passed for only 145 yards on 28 attempts.
The Titans are the favorite in this one, with an expected 8.5-point margin of victory. But bettors beware: they are only 2-4 against the spread when favored.
The losses put Tennessee at 8-4 and Jacksonville at 2-10. A pair of offensive stats to keep an eye on: Tennessee ranks fourth in the NFL when it comes to rushing touchdowns, with 17 on the season. Less enviably, Jacksonville is worst in the league in passing touchdowns, with only nine on the season. So the cards are definitely stacked against Jacksonville.
