Though he’s the third-rated cornerback in our top-100 free agent rankings, Tracy Porter, formerly of New Orleans, also was listed as the No. 13 player overall. Now, he’s off the board, as the Broncos have announced they’ve signed him to contract.
According to ESPN, the deal is worth $4 million over one year.
Along with Champ Bailey in the secondary -- and, of course, Von Miller and Elvis Dumervil in the front-seven -- Porter, while not necessarily an elite cornerback, should improve a defense that was as responsible for Tebow Time as Tim Tebow himself.
One thing Porter might not want to bring up to one of his new teammates? This interception (and pick-6) that helped lead the Saints to a Super Bowl victory against Peyton Manning’s Colts squad and sealed the game for New Orleans late in the fourth quarter.
