Coach Leslie Frazier had nothing but good news to report on Monday following his team’s 34-24 win over the Detroit Lions. He said it was a complete team victory and that the Vikings came out of the game virtually unscathed.
“[There were] a lot of positives on that tape of the game,” Frazier said. “So many players contributed to our success.”
Citing everyone from quarterback Christian Ponder to running back Adrian Peterson to cornerback Antoine Winfield and the specialists, Frazier said everyone played a role in a “much-needed” win that preceded the bye week. But his biggest “positive” was the lack of new injuries.
“We came out of it relatively injury-free,” he said. “There are no guys on the injury report that should not be able to go next week, including Percy [Harvin]. We’re optimistic, but we still have to wait and see. He’s getting better, but we’ll know more a week from today.”
Harvin suffered an ankle sprain against the Seahawks and missed the Lions game. In addition, DT Letroy Guion, who had a turf toe injury in Seattle and also missed the Lions game, is expected to be back for the next game, as well. And despite a good game by his replacement DT Fred Evans, Guion will start when he returns.
“I was encouraged by the way Fred Evans played for Letroy,” Frazier said. “Fred did a good job for us, but Letroy is our starter. Letroy has played some good games for us and got a little banged up, but once he’s healthy, he’ll be our starter.”
Rookie WR Jarius Wright, who had a nice game (three catches for 65 yards and a touchdown) in Harvin’s absence, will be considered for active duty on a week-to-week basis after Harvin returns, Frazier said.
“We’ll take a look at him every week and determine if this is going to be a week when he will be [active]," Frazier said. "But he definitely did some things to warrant our considering him every week going forward.”
