General man of the people, legendary Chiefs/Vikings/Bears/Panthers pass rusher and quasi-urban cowboy Jared Allen is retiring from the NFL. 

And his retirement announcement on Thursday could not have been more perfect. Allen posted a video to Twitter showing himself on a horse, in a killer jacket and cowboy hat. 

"Hello everyone, I just want to say thank you for an amazing 12-year career," Allen said. "This was the part where I was going to ride off into the sunset. But seeing as how there’s no sunset I’m just going to ride off." 

Allen retired as the active sack leader in the NFL (tied with Julius Peppers of the Packers) with 136, which puts him top-10 all time (No. 9, tied with Peppers). The only people ahead of him who aren't in the Hall of Fame are Jason Taylor and Kevin Greene, the latter of whom gets in this year. 

Allen also leaves an impressive off-field legacy, working closely with military members and winning the Salute to Service Award during his 12-year career.
