What was suspected on Wednesday was confirmed on Thursday: safety Will Allen is back with Pittsburgh. He played for the Steelers from 2010 to 2012 before leaving for Dallas, which cut him this week.
Allen has only been a starter sporadically during his NFL career, which included a six-year stint in Tampa Bay. But he played in nearly every game for the Steelers during his time there.
The Steelers are expected to release Da'mon Cromartie-Smith to make room on the roster for Allen, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
