  • Bills' Matt Prater: Out for Week 16

Bills head coach Sean McDermott said that Prater has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Browns due to a right quadriceps injury, Jay Skurski of The Buffalo News reports.

Prater suffered the injury during the Bills' 35-31 win over the Patriots on Sunday, when he converted all five of his extra-point attempts. With Tyler Bass (hip) already done for the season, the Bills will have to pursue a free-agent kicker to hold down the fort for the duration of Prater's recovery. Sal Capaccio of WGR Sports Radio 550 Buffalo relays that Prater is considered week-to-week and could miss more than one game.

  • Bills' Matt Prater: Hits five extra points

Prater went 5-of-5 on extra-point attempts in Sunday's 35-31 win over the Patriots.

On a high-scoring day for the Bills' offense, the team's kicker did not get a field-goal try, though he made the most of his extra-point attempts. Prater has now made 43 extra points in 14 regular-season appearances this season, so he does get plenty of scoring opportunities on Josh Allen's team. He just hasn't attempted more than two field goals in a game since Week 2.

  • Bills' Matt Prater: Makes all five kicks in Week 14 win

Prater converted his lone field-goal try and all four of his PATs in Sunday's 39-34 win over Cincinnati.

Prater had to kick on a snowy field, but that didn't seem to bother him much. He made a chip-shot 26-yard FG late in the first quarter and knocked in all four of his extra-point tries. Prater has been reliable this season, making 18 of 20 field-goal attempts and 35 of 38 PATs.

  • Bills' Matt Prater: Pair of FGs, missed PAT in win

Prater made both of his field-goal attempts and two of three extra-point tries in the Bills' 26-7 win over the Steelers on Sunday.

Prater's field-goal makes were from 27 and 37 yards, but he missed the PAT following a one-yard touchdown catch from Keon Coleman in the third quarter, the third time in the past six games where he's missed an extra-point try. Prater has kicked in all 12 games for Buffalo this season and has gone 17-for-19 on field goals and 34-for-37 on extra points.

  • Bills' Matt Prater: Teammate out for season

Coach Sean McDermott revealed Monday that Prater's teammate Tyler Bass (left hip/groin) underwent surgery last week and will be sidelined for the rest of the season, Maddy Glab of the Bills' official site reports.

That should give Prater, who was signed in a pinch just ahead of Week 1 and has been kicking for the Bills all season, the team's kicking job for the rest of the campaign. Prater has been dependable for the most part, going 17-for-19 on field-goal attempts, but extra points have been an issue recently and he's missed one in three of the past six games. If you can get past the fact his leg strength isn't what it used to be now that he's 41 years of age and that weather could be an issue with all remaining games played in wintry locations, there's value to be had here in a high-powered offense that still has the Bengals and the Jets on the schedule. Prater currently sits 14th among kickers in total scoring.

  • Bills' Matt Prater: Makes both FGAs in loss

Prater went 2-for-2 on field-goal tries and made one of two PATs in Thursday night's 23-19 loss to the Texans.

Prater pushed his first extra-point try of the night wide left in the first quarter, which would come back to hurt Buffalo later in the game. The kicker was able to convert both of his field-goal attempts though, adding a 44-yard make in the second quarter before nailing a 38-yarder in the fourth. Prater had gone three straight games with one or fewer field goals, and he's now gone 5-for-6 on field-goal attempts over his last six contests.

  • Bills' Matt Prater: Uneventful day in blowout win

Prater made his only field-goal attempt and went 5-for-5 on PATs in Sunday's 44-32 victory over Tampa Bay.

Prater had a relatively quiet day while the team put up 44 points, making his only field-goal try from 39 yards in the third quarter. The kicker has now attempted one or fewer field goals in three consecutive games and four of the last five overall. Prater has now gone 13-for-15 on field-goal tries, including 1-for-2 from 50-plus yards, while making 31 of 32 extra-point attempts over 10 contests this year.

  • Bills' Matt Prater: Quiet day in Week 10 loss

Prater made his lone extra-point attempt during the Bills' 30-13 loss to the Dolphins on Sunday.

Prater was only asked to come out for the extra-point try following the Bills' second touchdown of the fourth quarter, but he was otherwise reserved for kickoff duties. The veteran kicker has not made a field goal in three of his last four games, and for the season he has gone 12-for-14 on field-goal attempts and 26-for-27 on extra-point tries through nine regular-season games.

  • Bills' Matt Prater: Imperfect in Week 9

Prater missed his only field-goal try and went 4-for-4 on extra-point attempts in Sunday's 28-21 win over the Chiefs.

Prater was unable to extend Buffalo's lead to two scores late in the fourth quarter, hitting the right upright on a 52-yard field-goal try with 27 seconds left in regulation. The kicker hadn't missed a field-goal attempt since Week 3 prior to Sunday's miscue. On the year, the 41-year-old has now gone 12-for-14 on field-goal tries, including 1-for-3 from 50-plus yards, while making 25 of 26 PATs over eight games.

  • Bills' Matt Prater: Ready for Week 9

Prater (right calf) has no injury designation ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Chiefs.

The 41-year-old logged three consecutive limited sessions during the Bills' week of practice due to a calf injury, but it now appears that he'll play through the issue in Week 9. Expect Prater to serve as the Bills' top placekicker Sunday.

  • Bills' Matt Prater: Another limited practice Thursday

Prater (right calf) remained a limited participant at Thursday's practice.

Prater has logged consecutive limited sessions to begin preparations for Sunday's home game against the Chiefs. Tyler Bass (hip) remains on injured reserve and hasn't had his window to return to practice opened yet, so Prater's set to remain Buffalo's kicker in Week 9 if healthy enough to play.

  • Bills' Matt Prater: Dealing with calf injury

Prater was limited in Wednesday's practice due to a calf injury in his kicking leg.

It's unclear when Prater sustained the injury, though it was likely during the Bills' Week 8 win over the Panthers, when he made all six of his kicks (two field goals and four PATs). He has served as the Bills' starting kicker through the first seven games of the regular season due to Tyler Bass (hip) being on injured reserve, and Buffalo does not currently have a place kicker on the practice squad. Prater will have two more opportunities to increase his practice participation heading into Sunday's game against the Chiefs.

  • Bills' Matt Prater: Makes six kicks in Week 8 win

Prater made both of his field-goal attempts and went 4-for-5 on point-after tries during the Bills' 40-9 win over the Panthers on Sunday.

Prater scored the Bills' first six points of the game with field goals from 45 and 43 yards in the first half. His first extra-point try in the second quarter sailed wide left, but he was perfect on his next four PATs. Prater has done a serviceable job as the Bills' placekicker as Tyler Bass remains on injured reserve due to a left hip/groin injury. Prater has gone 12-for-13 on field-goal attempts and 21-for-22 on extra-point tries through seven regular-season games.

  • Bills' Matt Prater: Quiet night on MNF

Prater did not attempt a field goal and went 2-for-2 on extra-point tries in Monday night's 24-14 loss to the Falcons.

Prater went without a field-goal try for the first time this season, previously having notched multiple attempts in four of five games to open the year. With Tyler Bass (hip) still unable to return to practice, Prater seems likely to remain the team's starting kicker following Buffalo's bye week in Week 7.
