Barnes signed a contract Wednesday with the 49ers.
Barnes spent much of the offseason with the 49ers but didn't survive final roster cuts ahead of Week 1. Now back in San Francisco, Barnes will provide depth along the interior of the offensive line.

Barnes signed a contract with the 49ers on Monday, Jim Thomas of The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Barnes started all 32 regular-season games for the Rams in 2015 and 2016 before his surprise release this offseason. Now with San Francisco, he'll have a chance to earn a starting role once again.

Tim Barnes: Released by Rams
Barnes was released by the Rams on Thursday, Lindsey Thiry of the LA Times reports.
Operating as the starting center, Barnes didn't miss a single game the past two seasons. His release comes as somewhat of a surprise, as the Rams have little depth at the position. Meanwhile, the 28-year-old Missouri product shouldn't have a problem finding a new home this offseason.

Rams' Tim Barnes: Active for Week 13 matchup
Barnes (foot) is active for Sunday's game against the Patriots, Gary Klein of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Barnes missed practice Wednesday and Thursday with the injury, but was able to log a limited session Friday, which was enough for the Rams to sign off on his availability. He'll start at center as he usually does.
