Jackson (hamstring) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday.
Jackson played just one defensive snap this season, as he was relegated mainly to special teams duties, so his departure shouldn't affect fantasy owners. The 49ers replaced Jackson's roster vacancy with the signing of 32-year-old cornerback Leon Hall.

Jackson sustained a hamstring injury and didn't return to Sunday's overtime loss to the Colts, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
The 49ers' injury woes in the secondary continued Sunday with Jackson and Ahkello Witherspoon (concussion) both exiting with injuries. The health of both players should become clearer once the 49ers resume practicing Wednesday.

49ers' Asa Jackson: Signs with 49ers
Jackson was added to the 49ers' 53-man roster Saturday, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Jackson has resided on the 49ers practice squad since being released at roster cutdowns, and now takes the roster spot of cornerback Keith Reaser. The 27-year-old will likely serve as a depth cornerback but could also have some opportunities on special teams.

Jackson signed with the 49ers on Tuesday, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
Jackson bounced around and never really found a home last season, only playing in four games and recording seven tackles. He was likely brought in to add more competition for San Fran's defensive backs with an opportunity to win a specialist job.
